In January 2012 we will be exposing for the 4th year in a row at the Heimtex fair in Frankfurt, the biggest home textiles fair in Europe. This fair is very important for us - we meet our existing clients, we proudly present our newest collections to the textile world and we hope to meet new potental clients and we hope to convince them to start working with Mistral Home.


Such a big projects ask for a lot of preparation. From desiging the booth and new designs/products to the selection of the products we are going to expose and from the practical arrangements to the buying of all the right accessoiries. But everybody is enthousiastic and ready to help!


We would like to give you a look behind the scenes so below you can find some pictures of how our booth will look like. Of course this is still without quilt covers, table cloths, cushions or other products - we don't want to give everything away. But of course we will show you some pictures of the booth at Heimtex later. Our booth B23 is in Hall 9.0.

Teamwork and good preparation paid off as Emma Johansson won the sprint of 'Omloop Het Nieuwsblad' in a group of 5 riders!
The team have spent the last week in Belgium and rehearsed all the hills and cobbles several times, and carried out the plan with success, on the climb 'Cote de Trieux' after 65 km. After a killing climb with all of the team, the peloton was broken to pieces, and Emma was away with a small group. She was also away several times but the small group catched up with her. In the sprint she beat Andrea Bosman (WV Eemland), Chantal Blaak (AA Drink), Loes Gunnewijk (Nederland Bloeit) and Elisa Borghini (Fazza Bortolo).

Contrary to popular belief, "satin" or "percale" has nothing to do with the composition of the yarn; it only has meaning in reference to the weave. So it would be more accurate to talk about percale cotton (percale woven cotton) or satin cotton (satin woven cotton).

'Percale' means that the fabric is composed of a minimum thread count of 200 (threads of per inch). This means a high degree of weave closeness and thread refinement. Because Egyptian cotton yarns are known for their fineness they are often used. To obtain percale, a “plain weave” is woven whereby one weft thread is woven over one warp thread.

 

Satin woven fabrics are quite different than cotton woven fabrics and percale cotton fabrics. For satin, a weaving technique is used whereby four weft threads are passed over 1 warp. With this technique, yarns can be very closely woven, making the fabric supple. The underside is dull, but the top is shiny because of the loose weft threads. Our printed satin duvet covers consist of 220 counts (threads per inch).

A satin-woven fabric, with its suppleness and shiny appearance, makes an ideal duvet cover. The percale-woven fabric for fitted sheets has a special line that makes it more resistant to friction thanks to the way it’s woven; something that fabric for a duvet cover would not need.

You could say that a percale fitted sheet and a satin duvet cover is the perfect combination....

Because of a continual sales growth the current facility has become too small. Late last year, to proactively avoid problems we cut the knot. Adjacent to the current facility construction of a new facility is currently in full swing. Once these construction works are completed, the entire work surface will be approximately 11,000 m². A doubling of the holding areas!

Through this expansion we will be able to provide more than enough breathing room for our goods and our staff in the near future.
An investment that will be of singular benefit for you, our customer.

One half was covered in soft colours, while the other half was dominated by powerful colour combinations and daring touches.

The soft side was coordinated using our PURITY, ICELAND and HIGH SOCIETY colours: soft pastel tones ensuring a natural, cohesive whole. The bed featured Satin Stripe, Serenity and Paisley, our newest satin quilt covers, embellished with cushions of various sizes.

 

The chair was draped in a beige Smart Wrap that in turn was decorated with a number of plaid and decorative cushions.

 

The large dinner table was covered with the Tavares tablecloth, the Jacquard Uni table runner and matching placemats in Brotas and Aruja design. The great number of people who looked surprised just shows how popular this combination is. The chairs were covered with the new Barcelona chair covers.

Two smaller tables placed separately adorned the professional table linen, something that attracted much attention.

 

On the other side, bed linen, table linen and decorative linen could be admired. Here, the various colours and touches really competed for attention, as contrasts went together in a certain way. Although the five ‘head-to-head’ tables were in completely different colour palettes, they still stood harmoniously side by side.

As well, the bright blue chair got enough attention, just like the matching bedcover, which completed the look.

 

As for the bed, its red, purple and fuchsia tones got people to take notice. Embellished with a few pyramid-shaped decorative cushions, the bed left nobody indifferent.



Not only did the products draw attention, but so did our brand new campaign image featured in giant format on the wall. Supported by a series of photos of flower creations on the inside wall, the stand had a very natural look.

From 21st until 24th December the Belgian Radio station ‘Studio Brussel’ organized the 4th edition of Music for Life: an awareness - and fundraising campaign to support a good cause dovetailing with the activities of the International Red Cross.  This year’s good cause is the battle against malaria in Burundi.

The other half of the money is used to support BiJeVa, a Belgian foundation that organizes carefree holidays for deprived children.  Photos will be published on our website in the beginning of 2010.

As of mid September, the exclusive quilt cover collection, designed by Kate Ryan, Vive la fête and Shape Squad will be available at Makro Belgium.

With this project Mistral Home wants to do more than just draw attention to the global HIV/AIDS issue.  Mistral Home has decided to donate 4 €  per piece to DAA to support their international HIV/AIDS-prevention projects.  The ‘International HIV/AIDS Awareness Education Center’ in Antwerp (Belgium) is  one of the projects that was started up by DAA lately.
